Almost 2,500 participants, guests, neighbors from Ursynów with big hearts, enormous commitment of over 30 educational institutions, about 200 volunteers, gathered together by over 124,000 people. PLN in 4 hours (!), plus great weather, lots of attractions, concerts of artists, children and youth, fair, auction, workshops, orienteering, horses and many, many more – all this happened quite recently in Primary School No. 340 in Ursynów
But maybe from the beginning … Last Sunday, March 1, 2020, we had the opportunity to co-organize an event in Ursynów – a charity concert “Ursynów plays for Julek Wróbel”. Who is Julek? Julek Wróbel is a student of Primary School No. 343 at ul. Kopciński and an avid young footballer. In November last year, specialized research resulted in a dramatic diagnosis – an inoperable brain tumor. The best chances for the improvement of the boy’s health are provided by a very expensive, individualized treatment abroad, which exceeds the financial capacity of his parents, which is why the Ursynów community came to help. When the slogan “… there is a seriously ill boy in Ursynów who needs help”, it was enough to open people’s hearts.
It started with the Head of the Education Department for the Ursynów District, who asked the directors of educational institutions for help. The appeal was answered, inter alia, by the Director of SP 340, Ms Małgorzata Antonowicz, who took up the challenge of organizing the event. She invited our Foundation to cooperate – without hesitation, we started to act and co-implement a charity campaign for 9-year-old Julek Wróbel. It was a very intense time for us, in two months we prepared an event, which turned out to be a very large and program-rich undertaking. Many donors joined the action by donating fantastic, often unique items both for the auction and for the miscellaneous fair.
Our campaign showed that Ursynów can unite for a good cause, and our community is unique! As long as life lasts, there is hope.
